Geography and history

The Bophirima region of the North West Province in South Africa is the largest region in the province. It is made up of mostly small rural towns and Vryburg is the capital of the region. This region is full of rich history and contains some of the most interesting memorials, monuments, historical sites and attractions in the region. Vryburg will offer tourists the chance to experience the largest agricultural industry in the area.

On the outskirts of Vryburg is the Tiger Kloof Mission. Founded in 1904 by the London Missionary Society, the establishment reflects recent South African history. The Blue Pools near Taung is a definite must-see because of its international recognition. The Taung Skull, a crucial link in the ascent of man, was discovered here in 1924.
